30 Days of Thanks - Day 13

Today I am thankful for Minha Vida Photography! We are working on a semi-secret project together that we are both very excited about. Today we went to a couple of locations, and I even had a chance to introduce her (Tiffany) to the wonderful and lovely Robyn of Robyn Arouty Photography! I would say all-in-all it was a successful day and I when I can say mor eon the project, I will for sure announce it here!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 12

Today I am thankful for laaaazzy Saturdays. I usually go with lazy Sundays, but I have some things I have to do tomorrow, so today was my lazy day. The boyfriend and I get only one day a week off together (he works Sunday-Thursday, I work Monday-Friday) and that day is today and I have thoroughly enjoyed it!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 11

Thank you veterans from past and present; those who have served and are currently serving. Thank you to the service dogs that assist these soldiers in the job they have chosen to do for our country. Thank you to the service and therapy dogs that help them once they return home wounded, physically or otherwise. And thank you to groups like PETS FOR PATRIOTS, INC. and Patriot Paws Service Dogs for doing what you do for them too.

30 Days of Thanks - Day 10

As weird as this may seem to some, today I am thankful for dental insurance. I have had bad teeth for as long as I can remember (something about enzymes in my saliva weakening my enamel?), but I have a wonderful dentist that I have been going to for 20 years now. My whole family uses the same guy. Within the last 10 days, my mom and sister-in-law have both been to the dentist to fix broken teeth. Neither of them are insured. I currently have 2 broken teeth, that I will soon be getting fixed. I am ever-so-thankful that I have dental insurance that will pay half the cost!!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 9

Today I am thankful for those who give chances to misfits. I know a lot of people have prejudices against 'pit bull'-type dogs, but many of those are people are mis-educated. Today is a very happy day for all of us at Corridor Rescue, because our beautiful Swan (pictured here) has finally been adopted into her furever home!  Swan has been in CRI's program for over 2 years - most of that time in boarding. We LOVE you Swan - you will always hold a special place in our hearts!! THANK YOU Georgina and Greg for giving swan her furever home!!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 8

Today I am thankful for the musical genius of others. I can't even begin to count the amount of songs I can hear and be taken back to a specific time in my life. Music can get me out of bad moods, make or break the night, and even make me cry. I have pretty much zero musical talent. I taught myself to play very beginner's piano when I was a tween (before 'tween' was even a term - hah!), but that didn't go very far. I still choke up when I hear "Proud to be and American" because I remember being school during the (original) gulf war, tying ribbons around our big trees outside the class room. The entire Incubus - Morning View album will forever remind me of my first real taste of (what I thought was) love. I'm currently obsessing over the new Florence + the Machine album. I just don't think life would be the same without a soundtrack!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 7

Today I am thankful for the $5.99 Monday Carryout Special at Papa John's. Silly, I know. But I always know what's for dinner on Mondays, I don't have to cook, and it's the only time I'm willing to pay for pizza. It's just too overpriced otherwise!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 6

Today I am thankful for the wonderful world of animal rescue. I have been so blessed this year to meet some phenomenal women and men that continually amaze me with their generosity and selflessness. I have always believed that I was meant to work with animals somehow, and this year has confirmed that belief. I have made some friendships that I imagine will be life-long. I couldn't ask for a better group to be involved with. Besides Corridor Rescue Inc, who I volunteer for directly, there is also Barrio Dogs, Inc, Backstreet Brutatility Relief and Rescue, Guardian Pit Bull Rescue... I mean the list could go on and on. These groups are all doing amazing things and I'm proud to play whatever little part I can in what they are accomplishing.

30 Days of Thanks - Day 5

Today I am thankful for downtime. I had a pretty bad allergic reaction last night and so I pumped myself full off anti-histamine's and decongestants. Even though I slept a good 9 hours overnight, I was still able to take a 3 hours nap this afternoon. It was much needed and I felt much better afterwards. I feel like I rarely have downtime anymore. I find myself much busier than this time last year, so any little bit is good and I'll take it!

PS - Bonus to naptime? Getting to cuddle with my dogs the whole time!

30 Days of Thanks - Day 4

Today I am thankful for working lunches! I could do without the 2 hour meeting that came along with it today, but I'll take the free food, and getting paid to eat. Especially delicious food!
