I know this is way late and truth be told I did a lot of slacking off at work last week, so I could've taken the time to write this then, but I didn't. And I spent my entire Thanksgiving Holiday/Weekend being with loved ones, enjoying life, and catching up on much needed rest and sleep [ I have not had one eye twitch yesterday or today!] So, this is my Thanksgiving blog, and since Thanksgiving is always on Thursday, I thought I would do it as a
13 Things that I am Thankful for:
1. My Family - My sister and I but heads a lot, and sometimes my step-dad and I do as well, but overall I think I have THE greatest family ever. Ever since I was about 15 I've had a very close relationship with my mother. I'm able to talk to her about almost anything and she's always there when I need her to be. My brother and I have been close ever since we were kids. And now he and his wife are bringing a beautiful little baby boy ginger hellspawn into this world in April.
2. My Friends - Even though we've all kind of grown up and apart, some have moved away, or we just don't talk much anymore, I love all of my friends. Life gets in the way of things, but we almost always find a way to keep in touch, especially when it really matters. Many of my friends, I also consider to be family.
3. My FJ - I know you hate being in the spotlight, my love, but I really am truly thankful that you've come into my life. I'm so thankful that I finally met someone that makes me this happy. Like you always say "There sure are a lot of laughs around our house." :)
4. My home - Even if it leans a little to the right, and I fear that someday, in a horrible downfall of rain we will sink into the ground. We have a happy home, a messy home, but a happy one.
5. The Dogs [and Cats] - Goober, Hamilton, Taka, Snick, Killer, Chino [Sorry Tobi busted one on your ass the other day - hahahahah! ;x ], Snoop, Specks, Sorabi, Stardust, Paddles, And Buddy Lee. You guys make the world go 'round. You may or may not know it, but you can make your mom or dad's day sometimes. I know my two goobs can throw my mood either way: I can be super pissed and they can make everything better, or I can be in an ok mood, and they can't act like hell beasts and make me full of great vengeance and furiuous anger. You still rock the show though.
6. My job - It's boring. Not really challenging. But it's easy. They pay me pretty well. They pay my bills and keep me afloat. And my boss is cool and some of my co-workers too!
7. My talent - I can read. I can write. I can set-up and run a speed lathe. I can make garter springs. I can drive. I can walk, talk, see, hear, taste, smell, feel. I used to be really good at arts and crafts [haven't really tried my hand at any of that for a long time] I can pretty much excel in anything that is put in front of me. It's taken me a long time to realize that. I used to think if I didn't get something on the first try or if times were hard it was the end of the world. Now I know I can conquer all. [Though I may not remember that at the time]
8. My childhood - It wasn't always fun and easy. I dealt with a lot. But I learned a lot. And I believe my childhood has made me into the woman I am today. Plus most of my memories of my father are from my childhood. And though I remember a lot of the bad, I remember even more of the good.
9. Being a woman - having the physical ability to carry another life form inside my body and give it life, have multiple orgasms, long beautiful hair, soft supple breasts, everything about being a woman. I've always admired the feminine form.
10. Chocolate - I really don't like chocolate cake, unless it is German, but really, chocolate is a godsend. And it can be in small amounts, but it's just... like... magic...
11. Anti-anxiety drugs - Do I really need to explain?
12. Coconut cream pie & Pumpkin bread/cake - my two absolute favorite desserts, and this time of year I get both... a lot.
13. PiƱa Coladas & Margaritas - There is nothing like sipping on a cool refreshing tropical drink, I mean sure, I'm a whiskey gal at heart, but somtimes you gotta mix things up, y'know? And these are a perfect way to go. They're so good and so different. Someone should create a Margalada.
In order to motivate myself more to do daily blogs, I've decided to post a "word of the day" everyday. These are the words of the day from Dictionary.com, but I'm going to use them here, as I said, for more motivation. So....
Today's WORD OF THE DAY
redact \rih-DAKT\, transitive verb:
1. To draw up or frame (a statement, proclamation, etc.); to put in writing.
2. To make ready and put in shape for publication; to edit.
The authors have obtained a copy of this memo, albeit redacted.-- John F. Kelly and Phillip K. Wearne, Tainting Evidence
White sat down to write or re-write or redact whatever one does to a twenty-year accumulation of episodes.-- Gerald Weales, "The Designs of E. B. White", New York Times, May 24, 1970
Redact derives from Latin redactus, past participle of redigere, to drive back, from re-, red-, "again, back" + agere, "to put in motion, to drive."
